The I AM

13 Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?”

14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

The great "I AM" statement has always fascinated me but I never really realized the significance of it until I heard Pastor Ebo at our church teach on the above Exodus verses. When God tells Moses to tell the people " I AM"sent you, He is making a statement about Himself. Since God is beyond this universe He is not restricted to the limitations of time like we are. He is the essence of "now", in other words He is constant and all around us everyday, He is eternally our "now".

The sacred now is what matters most to us as human beings. Our past is past and doesn't change and our future is unpredictable, so no time in our life is more important and more sacred than the "now". The present is the time we are able to make decisions that God can use to grow us and that He can use to grow others through us. God is the "I AM" not the "I WAS" or the "I Will Be" but the constant and present NOW.

Jesus being God manifested in the flesh reaffirms His "I AM" status several times in the New Testament. Of course the Old Testament is reflected in the New and vise versa. We all know these words Jesus spoke about Himself,
"I AM the Bread of Life"
"I AM the Light of the World"
 "I AM the Door"
 "I AM the Good Shepherd"
"I AM the Resurrection and the Life"
"I AM the Way and the Truth and the Life"
 "I AM the True Vine"

Now is the time we should call out to Him and now is the time we should strive to live as He would have us live. Now is the time to die to our flesh and die to the things of this world that will distance us from our Creator.

It's what we do now that makes the difference, the past is already gone and to say "I will do it one day" is relying on our future which is never certain.

Rely on Him instead of relying on ourselves is the key. Sometimes thinking to much leads us down the wrong road and sometimes even gets us in trouble. Pride and patience cannot coexist but humbleness and patience are the heart of wisdom. To have a humble heart and wait on The Lord leads to blessings, even if what He has us doing doesn't make sense at the time, when it is said and done we will be thankful we did it and went through it.

The "I AM" wants to have a relationship with you NOW but that choice is yours. But remember this, He will go to great lengths and great strides to get your attention, you must listen to that little voice when it calls, don't pull back, when you recognize it embrace it. The Now is the time. (DD)
